Martin Van Buren

Martin Van Buren (December 5, 1782 – July 24, 1862), nicknamed Old Kinderhook, was the eighth President of the United States. He was the first organizer of the Democratic Party, a dominant figure in the Second Party System, the first president of non-Anglo descent (Dutch), and the only President whose first language was not English (but Dutch). He was also the first President born in the United States rather than the English colonies.
